Alaska’s Senator Stevens and Rep. Young- Latest GOPers To Come Under Investigation For Corruption
When it rains, it seems to pour, and for the Republican party, that sound on the tin roof is more corruption investigations against two of its long time congressional members, Alaska’s Senator Ted “Bridge to Nowhere” Stevens and Rep. Don Young. Both are being investigated for alleged corruption, including accepting bribes, illegal gratuities, or unreported gifts from VECO Corp, an oil engineering firm in Alaska that has received a number of federal contracts since 2000.
Already authorities have arrested three Alaska state lawmakers in connection with corruption cases tied to VECO, and VECO CEO Bill Allen has already pled guilty to charges of bribery, corruption and extortion. My guess is that this guy is singing because he doesn’t want to go down alone.
For a republican party already in a tailspin, news of more official corruption will only hurt their chances of regaining much ground in 2008.

Thank goodness for scandals otherwise what would the dems have?

Yes, thank goodness indeed. Without the scandals, the Dems might not have gotten control of Congress, meaning these corrupt GOP bastards would still be hiding in the shadows, stealing our money and enriching themselves.
Or are you implying that corruption is a good thing and should be ignored?

Ken also needs to learn the definitions of investigation and conviction.
July 26th, 2007 at 1:21 pm
steve,You also need to learn the difference. No Kenedy was convicted for murder. So there was no murder. Right?
July 26th, 2007 at 1:48 pm
Hey Steve- where did I say that these guys were convicted? I didn’t. Just that they were under investigation.

What’s the word Rush uses? Oh yeah… drive-by media… Oh look, Alaskan republican under investigation… let’s write a story and pretend he’s actually guilty of something like it’s been proven in court… I can’t wait until 2008 when you are crying on this blog going… but… but … but… they are all corrupt? What happened? How did Fred Thompson win?
