Blogs on the Iowa River to River Tour
Monday, July 9th, 2007I’m getting caught up on emails and blog reading, so this post is a bit overdue. I wanted to make sure that Dodd Blog readers were sure to catch the following posts from Iowa bloggers (and some out of staters) on Senator Dodd’s River to River Tour with Paul Simon.

This is what all of the campaigns should be doing–highlighting the actual caucus-style events. Rallies are great and so are big events, but it is these small-town, one-on-one events that are really insightful (and they help showcase the political prowess of Iowans, emphasizing our first-in-the-nation status).
The Last Stop
Saturday, July 7th, 2007The last stop of the River to River Tour of Iowa was in Council Bluffs, on the banks of the Big Muddy Missouri River. Senator Dodd gave a rousing speech and Paul Simon played an expanded set to a crowd of about 500 people (and a few speed boats that slowed down to listen in to the event). It was a beautiful place to end a trip across Iowa.
I’m about to board my flight back to Washington, but over the next two days I’ll be putting up more footage and pictures from the River to River Tour, including more behind the scenes access onto our tour bus.
While the River to River Tour was about Senator Dodd meeting and talking with voters and caucus goers in Iowa, it was also an opportunity for the campaign to go beyond everything we have already done and give people an even greater window into the campaign. We went behind-the-scenes, live and in depth. D-TV launched to rave reviews. And we did this around a hugely successful trip with Senator Dodd and his family.
Thanks to everyone who tuned in to our blog and DTV over the last week, as well as huge thanks to all of the Dodd Squad in Iowa who helped make this Tour such a great success.
